Junior
Age 8 – 10 years
Dancers must be the age of 8, 9 or 10 on the 22nd August 2026
Intermediate
Age 11 – 13 years
Dancers must be the age of 11, 12 or 13 on the 22nd August 2026
Senior
Age 14 – 16 years (up to 18 for duets & trios)
Dancers must be the age of 14, 15 or 16 on the 22nd August 2026


Saturday 22nd August 2026 – Solos
Competitions will be held in Wakefield, Yorkshire on Saturday 22nd August 2026!
Winners will be crowned Yorkshire’s Young Dancer of the Year!
Sunday 23rd August 2026 – Duets & Trios
Competitions will be held in Wakefield, Yorkshire on Sunday 23rd August 2026!

What are the rules?
Dancers must reside at a Yorkshire postcode
All applicants must live within the Yorkshire region.
Dances should be modern jazz, lyrical, contemporary or tap (including song)
All dances must show cabaret content with or without song.
Dancers must have won 1st, 2nd or 3rd in an open section with any cabaret solo, duet or trio
All applicants must be open section medal winners
Take note of our adjudicators
No dances should be choreographed or rehearsed by this year’s adjudicators
Cancellations are refunded 60 days before the event
No refunds post 22nd June 2026
Previous Winners
Our previous winners can enter again the following year in the relevant age category
Dancers must be within the category age
Junior Age 8-10
Intermediate Age 11-13
Senior Age 14-16 (up to 18 for duets & trios)
Duets and Trios should be categorised according to the oldest dancer.
Dances must stay within the category time limit

Duets & Trios
The same duet or trio pairing can only be entered once. Dancers can dance multiple times with different combinations of pairings.
No personal photography or videography permitted
There will be a professional photographer at the event
2026 Adjudicators

Linda Lister – Head Judge
Linda is a Fellow and Senior Examiner of the International Dance
Teachers Association, an official Adjudicator, Lecturer, and Artistic
Practitioner in all theatre disciplines.
Throughout her career, she has travelled extensively throughout the UK,
Europe, and worldwide, promoting and encouraging pupils, students, and
teachers on their dance journey.
Since its initial inception, Linda has served on the Contemporary Modern
Jazz and Acrobatic Dance Faculty, responsible for the formation of its
technical development. These syllabi are currently utilized in
fifty-seven countries across the world.
Linda is a current member of the Miss Dance and Dance Master of Great
Britain organising committee, on which she has served with excellence
for over forty years.
She is proud to be the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award and
was a nominee for the Carl Alan Award for Services to Dance.
Her initial training was at the Betty Chappelle Dance Centre, where she
attended their full-time course and has been running the Wakefield
branch for fifty-seven years, continuing the legacy of Miss Betty
Chappelle. Linda was also a most valued and integral part of the
teaching faculty at Phil Winston’s Theatreworks in Blackpool and has had
an influence and input on thousands of students who have established
successful careers in the Performing Arts and teaching industry.
Linda is honoured to have been asked to adjudicate such a prestigious
event and wishes everybody competing all the very best of luck and a
fabulous day.

Alexie Hulley – Guest Judge
Winning Miss Dance at 16yrs old was an absolute dream come true! for Alexie.
Since the final she have been kept busy with many opportunities from the IDTA is lucky enough to be continuing my journey as a dance star with CYD?
During the Summer of 2024 she became the TDCI British song & dance champion and overall adjudicators choice for the whole competition as well as becoming the Yorkshire Dance Awards Senior dancer of the year!!
She then went on to win the TDCI World performer final and gained a scholarship to Laine Theatre Arts. She now attends CAPA college.
Alexie received a nomination for Senior Theatre at the Le Classique de Danse awards which will took place in August 2025.
